When Was the Last Time You Thought About Yourself?

When Was the Last Time You Thought About Yourself?

Romanticizing slow everyday moments.

Most of our days begin the same way.

The alarm goes off, and you check your phone before you've even gotten out of bed.

There are emails waiting. Messages to reply to. Meetings on the calendar. Bills to pay. Deadlines to meet.

School lunches to pack. Breakfast to make. Laundry to fold.

Before the day has properly begun, your attention already belongs to a dozen different things. And from that moment on, the rush begins.

Most of us spend our days taking care of something.

Work deadlines.

Children.

Laundry.

Meetings.

Clients.

Family responsibilities.

A home that always seems to need something.

There is always a task waiting. Always a problem to solve. Always another thing to cross off the list.

And while everything around us gets our attention, but very few of us stop to think about ourselves. Not because we don't want to. But because there never seems to be time. We tell ourselves we'll slow down once this project is finished. Once the house is clean. Once the kids are settled. Once the week gets less busy. Once life calms down.

But somehow, there is always another reason to keep going. Another responsibility. Another deadline. Another tomorrow. And so we keep moving.

Days become weeks. Weeks become months. And somewhere along the way, we forget what it feels like to simply sit with our own thoughts. To enjoy a quiet cup of coffee while it's still warm.  To look out of the window without reaching for our phones. To take a deep breath without already thinking about what comes next.

The truth is, most of us aren't exhausted because we're doing difficult things. We're exhausted because we're always doing something. Our minds rarely get a chance to rest.

Even during quiet moments, we're planning, worrying, remembering, organizing, or thinking about what needs to happen next.

We've become so used to being busy that doing nothing almost feels uncomfortable. But maybe doing nothing isn't a waste of time. Maybe it's exactly what we've been missing. Maybe the few minutes spent sitting by a window, watching the sky change colors, listening to the wind, or simply breathing deeply are not moments lost. Maybe they're the moments that help us find ourselves again.

The moments that remind us that life isn't only about responsibilities. It's also about being present. About noticing the sunlight on the floor. The breeze through an open window. The warmth of a cup in your hands. The simple comfort of having nowhere to be for a few minutes. The world will keep moving. The emails will still be there. The dishes will still be there. The meetings will still happen. The to-do list will still be waiting. But for a little while, it can wait.

Slow down. Take the long sip of coffee. Stand by the window. Look at the sky. Take a deep breath. Give yourself permission to do nothing for a few minutes. Not because you've earned it. Not because you've finished everything. But because you deserve moments that belong only to you.

YOU DESERVE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF !
